The following networks shows influential users connectivity on Social Media talking about specific needs, such as food, shelter, etc. You can either click on a node in the network to see user profile on Twitter OR you can browse through them by their profession types in the left column-- such as HUMANITARIAN or MEDICAL, etc. Clicking on a need-type opens list of profession categories, clicking on a user under profession category list will show its information on the right side along with its important tweets contributing to its influence.

Engage from one interface with influencers to:
1.) Verify information of specific types, for example, remotely sitting humanitarians are more suitable in checking specific information, compared to an influential user of other type.
2.) Channelize important situational awareness messages effectively in the entire network of Twitter, such as correcting rumors, etc.

Twitris, NSF SOCS research team is supporting floods relief initiatives by, @InCrisisRelief (earlier, @jkfloodrelief)


The independent initiative involves aggregating public information on the Web and Social Media by the online volunteers in collaboration with reliable on-ground local efforts of voluntary organizations. Our goal is to support update on priority needs for relief, donation collection centers, and donation transportation logistics for public awareness on what to help via donations, where and how, and therefore, avoid mismatching of what is needed vs. what is offered. Voluntary and local organizations have been instrumental in setup for updating on the priorities, donation collection centers, preparing kits for shipments, receiving, and our collaboration is to support their commendable local efforts.
@InCrisisRelief (earlier @JKFloodRelief) team of digital volunteers is collaborating with local efforts to assist their relief work. Our team has core members (alphabetical: @hemant_pt, @ivak99, @parrysingh, @Raheelk, @silverlightgal, @surendranb, @tw_bhav, @_vidyakrishnan), supporting coordinators (@vmoorthynow, @harsh_sync, @Delhirious and @annaverve) and stellar volunteer team. In the prior JKFloodRelief work, a collaborative support from IndiGo Airlines for shipping all over India, as well as several voluntary organizations, Goonj, Sajid Iqbal Foundation, Uday foundation, Twitter India, Kno.e.sis Center, Google India, Cipla, DeVil On Wheels, Biocon, and Emami, etc. helped the initiative grow and achieve efficient relief deliverable. We are expanding to support local on-ground efforts more effectively. We are coordinating over group chats, twitter, mails, google groups, and task management systems.

  • Sept 30, 2014. Knoesis team continued help on backend of our volunteer coordination at (earlier, and put up a Actionable Social Stream & Map on Twitris-v2 to help our volunteers track two important priorities: Need-to-rescue vs. Rescued/Evacuated, first for redirecting #sos requests to rescue operations, second for creating evacuation zones list. Twitris Influencer Analysis also kept in action for reaching out to both the callers of help, and to spread out information quickly. Currently Twitris-dev team with our other collaborator Google Crisis Response, is working on extraction of locations mentioned in the text to quickly locate requests for help, and evacuations.

What is Twitris+?

A Semantic Social Web application with real-time monitoring and multi-faceted analysis of social signals to provide insights and a framework for situational awareness, in-depth event analysis and coordination, emergency response aid, reputation management etc.

Why Twitris+?

Users are sharing voluminous social data (800M+ active Facebook users, 1B+ tweets/week) through social networking platforms accessible by Web and increasingly via mobile devices. This gives unprecedented opportunity to decision makers-- from corporate analysts to coordinators during emergencies, to answer questions or take actions related to a broad variety of activities and situations: who should they really engage with, how to prioritize posts for actions in the voluminous data stream, what are the needs and who are the resource providers in emergency event, how is corporate brand performing, and does the customer support adequately serve the needs while managing corporate reputation etc. We demonstrate these capabilities using Twitris+.
